One of the joys of the country!

One of the joys of living in the country is seeing the wildlife. Emmelyne & I (this would be Charles temporarily commandeering our family's blog) saw this bird sitting on the post at the end of our lane today. Danee & the kids saw the same bird a few days ago in a different location. I took this picture with our smaller digital camera that I had in my car. We were probably less than 25 feet from it. If you have an idea of what kind of bird this is, leave us a comment.

We have made our plans on moving back to CA. We will rent a tiny spot on your property and live on it in our trailer, but if it's ok with you guys, we'll also use our monster tent for added room. Is there a small stream close by so I am able to do laundry? Okay, so it's all settled then, we'll be neighbors! YEA!

Holy smokes, look at those claws or whatever the heck birds call them. Very cool!

This bird is a hawk, right? a super puffed-up hawk, he must be cold.
Beautiful bird! We want one, too.
I guess we'll have to share him once we move onto the property. fun

This is a red-shouldered hawk, says my birder husband. Seriously, he does this for a hobby.
