One Happy Mama

So for those of you who having been reading our blog for a while you know about my potty training woes with Hudson. This kids has single-handedly made me rethink any and all parenting skills that I thought I had. When it came to potty training I thought that I was going to have to have myself committed! Well something happened and it wasn't the cool musical toilet that I bought for him, the loads of candy that tried to bribe him with, or the cool buzz and woody/Diego/Nemo under ware that we bought. It was nothing that I can quite put my finger on. I took away the diapers and for some reason this time it is working. Not to say that we are through the woods yet HOWEVER I see a light at the end of the toilet! I guess that he will be potty trained before he leaves on his mission at 19. I had some serious doubts. Now this kid can go on the toilet and doesn't even get an M&M for doing so. I have to say his one reward did go something like this:
We were on day 3 of being confined to the house and we had to take the girls to dance which meant that we sit in the car (travel and wait time) for 2 hours. I was a little worried but I had no other choice. I brought the little musical toilet praying that he would use it in an emergency. He would only use the big one at home. As we were sitting at dance waiting Hudson was strapped in his car seat reading books and I heard him say - ok kind of yell," Mom, I talking to you." "Hudson I am listening what do you need?(In my nicest mommy voice."
" Mommy, I-say- I - talking-to you."
" Yes Hudson - I know. What do you need?"
" Mom-my I say Mc - Don- ald's" ( He could see the sign from where we were parked.)
" Hudson, do you want an ice cream cone from Mc Donalds?"
" Yep"
" Ok you go potty in that little toilet and we will go to McDonalds."
He did it and we went - Pretty great bribe that only cost me a buck.
*You will not be seeing any potty pictures on our blog but trust me I would not lie about something this serious!*Posted by Picasa

Yay Hudson! Sounds like he was finally ready. I've learned that boys have to do everything in their own time. ;)
